How do I get a library card?

Library cards are free for all Wisconsin residents. Bring a photo ID with your name and current address to any service desk. Residents ages 0-15 will need a parent or guardian present to sign for the card.

If you are a new resident or your photo ID doesn’t include your current address, please bring additional proof of address such as a bank statement, checkbook, utility bill, or other official mail.

We do not have fines unless something is damaged or lost.

How do I download or stream e-materials?

You will need a valid library card to download and stream ebooks, e-audiobooks, music, TV shows, movies, comics, and more. Feel free to bring your device to the library for assistance with creating accounts and borrowing electronic materials.

  • Libby or Overdrive: The Libby and Overdrive apps both provide access to the Wisconsin Public Library Consortium of ebooks and e-audiobooks. Libby is the newest version of this app – we recommend trying Libby first! If you’re using a Kindle product or PC, the classic version, Overdrive, will likely work better for you. Search the app store in your smartphone or tablet for Libby (or Overdrive) and follow the registration and log-in instructions – remember, you’ll need a valid library card and PIN.
  • hoopla: The hoopla app allows users to instantly stream and view ebooks, e-audiobooks, music, TV shows, movies, and comics – no holds lists or wait time! Download the hoopla app on your smartphone or tablet, or visit https://www.hoopladigital.com to create an account with your library card, PIN, and email address. Farnsworth Public Library patrons are allowed to stream four items from hoopla every calendar month.

How do I renew my library card?

Your library card will expire on your birthday each year. Please visit, call, or email the Library to confirm your contact information and renew your card for another year.

How do I register and log in to my InfoSoup account?

Watch InfoSoup’s First Time Registration video, view InfoSoup’s Registration Flyer or follow these easy steps the first time you log in.

Visit the new catalog at infosoup.bibliocommons.com

  1. Click on the Log In/My Account dropdown in the upper right corner and select Log In/Register
  2. Enter your library card barcode and personal PIN number. Your PIN will be the same in both the old and new catalogs. If you don’t know your PIN, try your birthday in 6 digit, MMDDYY format, or contact your local library.
  3. If this is your first time signing in to the new catalog, you will be directed to register and create a Username.
  4. Think of the Username as your library nickname. This is the name others will see if you post any public comments – make it something memorable or something that says a bit about you.
  5. The Date of Birth field will automatically fill from your existing library account. Your date of birth is only used to determine if you are a minor. If the date is incorrect, complete the registration and then contact your local library.
  6. An email address is optional and can be used to reset your password or PIN and receive notifications of items ready for pickup, coming due or overdue.

Once you create a username, you can login using that instead of your library card number.

How do I place a hold on library materials?

You can place a hold on any item in our catalog by logging into your Infosoup account at https://infosoup.bibliocommons.com/. After searching for your desired item, click “Place Hold”, choose your pickup location, and click “Place hold” again.

You can also visit the library or call or email us and a librarian will be happy to add holds to your account for you.
